Nonsense Verse

I have worked for days
Or maybe they were nights
All blending into one long coil.

My calves ache, and some
Bill collector calls—
I want to
Maybe see a movie
Curled up on a dog-filled couch.

Sabertoothed Song

"Moon Goddess Diana" by H. D. Johnson

I once was a poet
      Hunting mountain-lion verse,
In danger,
      Dangerous,
            Endangered.

My arrows long spent, I shepherd
      Docile sheep words,
Boring,
      Baa-ing,
            Bored.

Where did I leave my sword,
      My saber-toothed pen —
Aching somewhere
      Alone
            On a mountainside?

New Year's Resolutions

I don't make New Year's resolutions for a reason:

Primary Fever

Happy New Year everyone!

I've been recuperating from the holidays, which were fun, but left me with lots of work to catch up on. Hope you all had good ones.

This year is the first time I get to vote in the US, since I plan to be a dual citizen by the end of the year. Needless to say, I'm taking a keen interest in the political process. It comes as no surprise to anyone, I'm sure, that I'm a democrat. In case you missed it (especially those friends and family abroad), I wanted to post Barack Obama's speech after the Iowa Caucus on January 3, 2008. Whoever wrote the speech (and considering his eloquence, the speech writer maybe Obama himself) did a fantastic job. One of the commentators on MSNBC said, in reference to Obama possibly being the first black man to become US President: "That is the America in which I want to live." I couldn't agree more:
