Gattaca..... zzzzzzzzzzz
Sorry, I fell asleep :) I just get enormous flashbacks about jet-lag every time I think about that movie *hehhee*
But I really liked it, when I actually was capable of staying awake more than 2 minutes...
I can not participate on this one; maybe next Tuesday you make a list about your 10 favourite Finnish candies ???
And the ice-hockey game starts in 3 minutes....
go finland!
as far as sci-fi movies go...
I actually like RotJ better than ANH or ESB. Though ESB has the absolute best music in the asteroid field (Go John Williams!) It's hard for me to pick a 'best sci-fi movie of all time' or anything. STIV and VI are both incredibly good, and the 'first' trilogy of star wars movies would probably end up being my top five. Titan AE is pretty cool in spite of being an animated film as well as FF: The Spirits within. StarGate was nice, the first matrix movie (i thought the next 2 pretty much sucked personally). Of course Serenity is good too. OH YES! The Day The Earth Stood Still! I actually really like that movie in spite of it's... *ahem* 'special' effects. Let's see... oh yes, we can't forget to mention Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, a true... umm... classic? or something :D
If we're adding "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" I'd like to thrown in "Killer Klowns From Outer Space." True classic.
I'm really torn about "Blade Runner." If I hadn't read PKD's book then I'd probably agree, but I'm still so pissed about all the changes that I can't judge properly.
It's become a little cliché to mention "Matrix," but damn that movie was brilliant. If the Bros. had edited two and three better they would have filmed the greatest trilogy ever. The whole Galaga portion of three really kills it for me.
And the kid in me must add "Back to the Future." Flame me all you want, I ain't takin' it back.
Yeah, the filmography (or whatever you call it) of the matrix was just stunning, not even talking about the special effects. Just the scenes, the framing, just an incredibly filmed movie imo.
Mark,
Yeah, I know what you mean - Hollywood keeps ripping, tearing, and shredding Philip K. Dick willy-nilly. The most obnoxious and outright "theft" is "The Truman Show" which is clear to anyone who's read "Time Out of Joint" that it was ripped from that, but was never credited anywhere....
I thought of adding "Back to the Future" too, because it is a hell of a good movie, and fun.
Shame about the "Matrix" sequels - and they had the makings of the best trilogy every, as you point out.
And Mophia, yeah, John Williams is the ultimate, even though at times he becomes predictable. But there is just something epic about his compositions, isn't there.
Hey Katja, when I come to Finland this summer, you and me watch "Serenity" together - you're so totally gonna love it.
YOU ARE COMING TO FINLAND ???? This summer ??? When ???? I want answers ! HETI !!!!!!!! *hyppii nelivuotiaan tavoin* Eikä me mitään leffoja katota, jos tänne tuut.
btw the hockey-game yesterday ended 3-3, which means that next Friday night it is Finland vs. USA...
Mom wants me to come for Midsummer... so who knows. Depends on the cost of course.
I'm in show Friday night, playing my least favorite bitch, but I'll be hoping Finland kicks some Ass :P
But Midsummer is only like 4 weeks from now ! Please come !!! We can do all the Midsummer spell's together ! Think about all the Oltermanni that waits you here. Fazer's chocolate, salmiakki, hernekeitto.. Please, please, please !!!
And now more professional approach to this; Midsommer is high season (even in Finland), so the flight tickets are going to be expensive :(
And at the Olympics we won USA 4-3 (and won silver medal; Sweden (of course) won the golden one). The game starts at 8 pm Finnish time, so you won't be at your show. Just keep your fingers crossed on Friday afternoon, no matter what you are doing :)
Okay, well gonna try on airline miles... and that means Friday 1pm have to start keeping fingers crossed.
Yeah midsummer spells sounds good - wonder if my mom could get summer house for that week, we could go hang there and dance naked in the moonlight while we collect flowers... hmmm....
dancing naked in the moonlight... *looks for sign up sheet*
Men aren't allowed in on the Midsummer spells. Only maidens. We're a matriarchal society, after all.
errm... uh... well, i do live close to Neenah, which has this hospital called Theda-Clark, which... umm... is the capital of the world for performing certain types of surgeries from what I understand...
Sorry, I could not find these in English:

So it is going to be a busy night for us, if we do all these spells :)
Midsummer rocks !
